In the recent climate conference in Copenhagen, scientists pointed out that the world's greenhouse gases must start to decline in 2015 to ensure the rise in global temperature will not exceed two degree Celsius; otherwise an irreversible climate change will bring disaster to Earth. Over the years, Universal Cars Limited (UCL), a company who highly values corporate social responsibility in Hong Kong, continues to introduce the latest environmental-friendly technology from Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC). Now, UCL becomes one of the world's first markets to launch the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck outside of Japan, to provide local businesses and the logistics industry with an environmentally-friendly alternative to reduce carbon emissions, and together, to combat global climate change.

Environmentally Friendly Truck with High Performance by combining Electric and Diesel Power in Hybrid Technology

The Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid, with the use of in-house hybrid technology, combines a 2,977-cc engine, ultra-thin electric motor and advanced lithium-ion batteries as the power source, and transmits this power through a highly efficient automated mechanical gearbox INOMAT-II. With an engine rated at 130PS, assisted by the 47PS electric motor with its high torque output characteristics, acceleration is comparable with the outgoing 4,899 cc diesel engine Canter counterparts. This result in reduced fuel consumption and exhaust emissions are both equally impressive. The hybrid diesel-electric drive installed in the vehicle delivers an up-to-30 percent increase in fuel efficiency over conventionally-powered models, with associated exhaust emissions reduction. The fuel savings are especially significant during stop-and-go, delivery driving. (Note: MFTBC does not release such concrete figures of fuel economy such as 11km/h, as performance can vary, or concrete emissions reduction figures).

Self Sufficient, Practical and Environmentally Friendly

The electric motor alone starts the engine and the vehicle; the electric motor will automatically intervene to assist the engine in low to mid rev range to help acceleration whenever necessary. This is particularly suitable in the stop and go traffic conditions in Hong Kong to fully realize the potential fuel saving ability of the Hybrid technology, meeting driver's real needs. When going down slope or braking, the Hybrid system will automatically recharge the battery, there is no need for a separate charging setup. The automated mechanical gearbox INOMAT-II is another latest technology from MFTBC; this is the second generation of this gearbox, with better and smooth operation. Clutch and automated gear changes are controlled and carried by on-board computer. The driver can leave the gear level in "D" position all the way or use the manual model + / - for more control.

Smart ISS System to Automatically Switch Off Idling Engine

This truck also equipped with ISS (Idling Stop & Start) automatic engine switch off and start system. When the gear level is shifted to "N" position, the engine will automatically switched off, during this time fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and noise will be reduced to zero. Audio, lights and air-conditioning system are maintain in operation by the battery. To drive off, simply shift to the "D" position and the engine will be restarted in an instant for a smooth getaway.

On Sale starting 27th of February with limited stock

The new Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid 5.5 tons truck will be officially on sale starting 27th of February.
